This Privacy Policy explains how BU: Eastern Oracle ("BU", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our mobile application, web experience, and related services. BU provides I Ching-inspired reflection and oracle reading experiences for self-reflection and entertainment. BU does not provide medical, legal, financial, psychological, religious, or other professional advice.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Questions or topics you submit for a reading.
• Email address and verification code information when you use email login.
• Google account identifier and basic profile information if you choose Google login.
• Messages you send to us for support, deletion requests, or feedback.

Information generated by the app

• Oracle casting results, including Liuyao lines, hexagrams, generated readings, and saved reading records.
• BU Account ID, device/client identifier, language preference, app settings, entitlement status, usage quota, and local archive data.
• Basic interaction events needed to provide the casting experience, such as shake/cast progress and unlock status.

Device and technical information

• Approximate device, browser, operating system, network, IP address, error logs, and diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the service.
• Motion sensor input and vibration/haptic capability may be used to trigger shake-to-cast interactions. Motion data is used to operate the interaction and is not used to identify you.

3. How We Use Information

• To generate, save, unlock, and display oracle readings and hexagram records.
• To create and manage user accounts, login sessions, verification codes, free quotas, paid/free status, and ad-free entitlements.
• To provide language settings, app preferences, customer support, and service notifications.
• To prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, secure the service, and improve app reliability.
• To comply with legal obligations and Google Play requirements.

4. AI-Generated Readings

To generate a reading, we may send your submitted question, casting result, language, and related context to our backend and to AI service providers that process the request on our behalf. We instruct these services to generate reflective content connected to your question and casting result. You should avoid submitting highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, legal, or confidential information.

5. Advertising and Third-Party Services

BU may use rewarded advertising to unlock reading content or provide free usage. We may use Google AdMob and related Google services. These services may collect or receive identifiers, advertising ID, device information, approximate location, interaction data, diagnostics, and ad performance information according to their own policies.

We may also use Google Sign-In, email delivery providers for verification codes, AI service providers for reading generation, and cloud hosting providers for backend infrastructure. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us, subject to their own privacy terms.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

• With service providers that help us operate login, email delivery, AI generation, advertising, hosting, security, and support.
• When required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, BU, or others.
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

7. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Some app data may be stored locally on your device, including language settings, account/session identifiers, and saved reading records. Backend records may be retained while your account is active or as needed to provide reading history, quotas, support, security, and legal compliance.

You may request deletion of your account data or reading records by contacting us at [email protected]. Please include your account email or BU Account ID so we can locate the relevant records. We may retain limited information when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or legitimate business records.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s Privacy

BU is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

10. International Processing

Your information may be processed and stored in countries or regions different from your own, including where our cloud, email, advertising, and AI service providers operate. By using BU, you understand that information may be transferred and processed outside your region, subject to applicable law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice in the app or on this page.
